# Emergency Contact Auto-Population from Spouse Details - Implementation Complete

## Overview
Implemented auto-population of Emergency Contact fields from Spouse details across all 4 client portals (Staff, Lawyer, Agent, Admin). When a user fills in spouse information and is married, the emergency contact fields will automatically populate with the spouse's name, phone, and email.

## What Was Changed

### 1. Blade Forms - Added New Fields
All 4 client create forms now include spouse_phone and spouse_email fields:

#### Staff Portal: `resources/views/staff/clients/create.blade.php`
- Added `spouse_phone_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')
- Added `spouse_email_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')

#### Lawyer Portal: `resources/views/lawyer/clients/create.blade.php`
- Added `spouse_phone_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')
- Added `spouse_email_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')

#### Agent Portal: `resources/views/agent/clients/create.blade.php`
- Added `spouse_phone_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')
- Added `spouse_email_container` (hidden, shows when marital_status = 'married')

#### Admin Portal (Joint Will): `resources/views/admin/clients/create.blade.php`
- Added `joint_spouse_phone` field
- Added `joint_spouse_email` field

### 2. JavaScript Event Handlers
Updated marital status change handlers in all 4 forms to:
- Show/hide spouse_phone and spouse_email containers when marital status changes
- Auto-populate emergency contact fields when spouse details change

Updated all 4 controllers to accept and validate the new fields:

#### StaffController

### 4. Client Assignment
Updated client creation to store the new fields:
- `spouse_phone` - assigned to client from validated data
- `spouse_email` - assigned to client from validated data
- `joint_spouse_phone` - assigned to client from validated data (Admin)
- `joint_spouse_email` - assigned to client from validated data (Admin)

## How It Works

### User Flow
1. User selects Marital Status = "Married"
2. Spouse fields appear (Spouse Name, Spouse IC, **Spouse Phone**, **Spouse Email**)
3. User fills in spouse details
4. **When user leaves any spouse field (on change event), emergency contact fields auto-populate:**
   - Emergency Contact Name ← Spouse Name
   - Emergency Contact Phone ← Spouse Phone
   - Emergency Contact Email ← Spouse Email
   - Emergency Contact Relationship ← 'Spouse'

### Key Features
- **Automatic**: No manual action needed - auto-populate happens on change event
- **Smart**: Only populates if at least one spouse field has data
- **Reversible**: User can manually edit emergency contact fields anytime
- **Consistent**: Works identically across all 4 portals
- **Database-safe**: Uses existing `spouse_phone` and `spouse_email` database fields

## Database Compatibility
The database already has these columns:
- `clients.spouse_phone` (nullable, string)
- `clients.spouse_email` (nullable, string)
- `clients.joint_spouse_phone` (for admin only, nullable, string)
- `clients.joint_spouse_email` (for admin only, nullable, string)

- [ ] Staff portal - Create client, set married, fill spouse data, verify emergency contact populates
- [ ] Lawyer portal - Same flow

- [ ] Verify emergency contact relationship is set to "spouse"
- [ ] Verify can edit emergency contact manually after auto-populate
- [ ] Verify phone field shows proper format
- [ ] Verify email validation works

## Notes
- All changes maintain backward compatibility
- No database migrations needed (fields already exist)
- Uses existing emergency contact fields
- No breaking changes to existing functionality
